Alan Mccracken

December 20, 1945 — March 8, 2021

In loving memory of the best husband, father, and grandfather we've ever known:Alan was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Madelyn Pettigrew McCracken and Linton Edgar McCracken on December 20, 1945, who both preceded him in death. Alan is survived by his adoring wife of 55 years, Shirley Jean Byler McCracken, his son Michael Scott McCracken (Jaci) of Grand Rapids, MI, David Martin McCracken of Franklin, TN; his grandsons, Joshua Bradley and Logan Nash McCracken, also of Grand Rapids, MI; older brother, Ed McCracken (Carol), of Ocoee, FL; younger brother Ken McCracken (Linda) of Boone, NC; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.Alan made many friends through church, during his career as a CPA in construction financial management, and earlier during his education at Georgia Military Academy and Emory University. Along with Jean, he served countless families and children as the owners and operators of Creative Learning Center (1976-2003) at the corner of Woodmont and Belmont Boulevards, where David and their dear and faithful staff operate Green Hills Child Development in the same tradition (2011-present).Alan treated everyone he ever met with the same love and respect. He saw each person for who they are, a child of God. We have never met a more honorable man than he. Follower of Jesus. Devoted. Humble. Optimistic. Self-deprecating. Generous. Joyful. Determined. Faithful to pray. Good Samaritan. Citizen, Marine, patriot. Employer, mentor, example, and friend. Semper Fidelis. Absent from the body, present with the Lord. The memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 13th, 2021, at 1pm Central: https://stephensvalleychurch.com /
