Beloved Angel Guay at 55 passed away the first week of July 2020 in her Nashville, Tennessee home. On Feb. 7, 1965 earth was blessed with Angel's birth in Montreal, Quebec, Canada as the daughter of Jane Braudfoot Lawson & Joseph Andre Guay. Her loving grandmother Nielena raised Angel in La Salle, Quebec, Canada. Angel lived in her childhood home with her mother & grandmother who emigrated from Edinburgh, Scotland in the 1950's. Following her family's footsteps, at 21 Angel adventured to a new country, the U.S. Her French-Canadian father, turned U.S. citizen, sponsored Angel. She got her green card & waitressed in Arizona restaurants. She juggled work & school.
After awhile, California beckoned this free spirit. There she enjoyed hiking & the San Francisco Bay area. She graduated from the John F. Kennedy University in 1999 with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology in Orinda, CA. She helped others as a Social Services Case Worker in TN.
Her artsy side & ear for country music inspired her to relocate to Nashville. She composed music & played guitar. After the roommate thing, she bought her Nashville house in 2000. She watched with excitement her house get built from the ground up in her River Glen neighborhood, along with new neighbors & friends. She interwove hard work with her unique flare for décor & gardening to convert her house into a home. She was creative, smart & resourceful.
Angel's adventures included getting stranded by helicopter in the Grand Canyon on a Native American Reservation, running a Great Wall of China marathon, cruising to Mexico, & flying to Scotland. As a loving daughter, she drove 2000+ miles yearly to celebrate her mom's birthday.
Her fun-loving side sang & hit the dance floor - Belly dance! Tango! You name it! She blossomed from a dance studio patron at the Nashville Ballroom into their unofficial photographer for parties & showcases. Angel developed her talent & passion for photography into her livelihood. Always living by her own rules, she established herself as an entrepreneur, becoming a wedding photographer.
Angel was larger than life - loud & boisterous, yet sweet, kind, & humble. She exuded love & joy, selflessly sharing her beautiful heart of gold with everyone. This social butterfly sincerely cared about others. She always put forth the time & effort to make people feel comfortable & special – be they a loved one of years or someone she just met. She hugged, if not with an embrace, with a smile & the twinkle in her eye. Angel was magic. She was the greatest friend anyone could ever be blessed with. Loyal & supportive, she listened without judgment. Her wise words inspired, comforted & offered strength.
Angel was also a devoted doggie mom to Dakota & Whoo Whoo in earlier years & then to Shilo. As partners in crime, Angel & Shilo went everywhere together. Shilo was with his beloved mom as God received Angel in his comforting arms.
Angel was preceded in death by her mother, grandmother, & doggies Dakota & Whoo Whoo.
She is survived by her father Joseph Andre Guay of Phoenix, AZ, & uncle Normand Huguette Henriette & Francine Guay, who live in Quebec Canada & doggie Shilo.
Angel is loved & will forever be remembered by her family, friends, & neighbors. A memorial will be held at a later date. Angel's cremains will be laid to rest in her native Quebec, Canada by close friends Gia Ruiz & Velia Howarth.
