Arthur Ivan Ebbets was born April 5, 1922 in Irvington, New York, and passed away January 6, 2014 at Nashville. He was the son of Richard Borden Ebbets and Hilda Annette Mullins Ebbets. Art grew up on a large, prosperous estate in Tarrytown, New York, for which his father was caretaker. During WWII, he served his country as a pilot, flying as a submarine spotter. In the 1960s he and his family relocated to Nashville. Art became affilated with the First Unitarian Universalist Church and later was a charter member of the Greater Nashville Unitarian Universalist Congregation, where he was a tireless volunteer. He leaves behind many friends and acquaintances. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Lillian Hollingsworth Ebbets. Survivors include his son Schuyler of Nashville, a stepson Jonathan of Boston and a brother Henry of Arizona.A memorial service will be held at the Greater Nashville Unitarian Universalist Church at 374 Hicks Road on Saturday, January 25th, at 3pm.
