Beatrice L. Walker Sunrise: 25 March 1938 Sunset: 9 March 2019 Beatrice L. Walker, age 80 passed away on Saturday, 9 March 2019 in Nashville, TN surrounded by her family and friends.She was born on 25 March 1938, in Essex, Missouri to Hershel and Ruby Riggs, but was raised along with her siblings by Mattie Amanda and Hershel who he married after the passing of Ruby. Bea was oldest of the five children.She worked various other jobs but it was at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston Missouri, that she experienced the most joy. Her work there, as a caregiver, continued for 26 years caring for patients as well as the people who worked around her until retiring on 8 June 1999. She then moved to Jackson, TN with her family. The family later moved to Nashville, TN.Bea enjoyed traveling with her family. Gatlinburg, TN in the Smoky Mountains was her favorite place to go. Walking up and down the streets and enjoying the beautiful mountains. She loved going to her grandson football games, and spending time reading her Bible. She had an adventurous spirit and went parasailing at the young age of 71. She said it was fun. Bea had a way of reaching people and she touched many lives. Many called her MOM.She joined the Foster Care System and provided a home and love to many children while living in Sikeston.She married Anderson "Bill" Walker in 1959 until 1981 they had 6 Children with addition of three more by adoption. Tammy J. Thomas (Ivan), Erric E. Walker (Lori), Anderson Walker (Amber), Christopher E. Walker (Odella), Monique Jenkins (Eddie), Felicia M. Falls (Moe), Frances A. Walker, Tyrone Walker (Brittany), Michael Tate.There are 20 Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, one sister Sue Ella Marble and one brother Willie R. Riggs.A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 10am Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Stateland Missionary Baptist Church, 4616 Wright Ave. Old Hickory, TN. 37138 with Pastor Robert Willis officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30am.
