Billy Fate Vanderpool was born in Monterey, Tn. 4/22/35 to Harvey Houston Vanderpool & Ina Mae Copeland-Vanderpool. Fate weighed one & a half pounds. His Mother wanted to name him William Lafayette, after two family members. Not expected to live, the Dr. said that’s too long to put on a birth certificate, and had he lived, you would have called him Billy Fate. So the Doc put it on the Birth Certificate. He was known as Fate Vanderpool all of his Life. Fate was born into a Musical Family. His father Harvey taught him to play guitar at an early age. Fate was a Professional Musician, Chet Atkins signed for him to join the Union when he was seventeen. Fate had one brother Fed Vanderpool, who recorded under the name of Van Houston on Columbia Records. Fate has one sister who was a Recording Artist on RCA under the name of Harvie June Van. Chet Atkins was Harvie June’s Record Producer on RCA and Fate played on those Recording Sessions & many more in Nashville, Tn. Fate was also a Master Aviator and served in three branches of the Military for 21 years. Fate served 19 years in the Army, one year each in the Navy & Air Force. Fate was also chosen to be in the Signal Corp, which was a Highly Classified Project. Fate was also the personal pilot for three Tn. Governor’s. Fate was an avid car & boat buff. Not only did he collect and restore antique cars & boats, he and his son’s Walter & Will Vanderpool built a 1936 Phateon. The car was featured in numerous calenders, Kar Koulture & Hemmings Magazines. Fate Vanderpool is preceded in death by his Mother, Ina Copeland-Vanderpool & Father, Harvey Houston Vanderpool, his son, Jon Wyatt Vanderpool, his brother, Fed Houston Vanderpool aka/Van Houston, (s-i-l) Rosalind Vanderpool, Nephew Tulli Allen Ferguson, nephew Bryan Franklin Austin, Uncle Alex Copeland & Aunt Clemma Rose Copeland. Fate Vanderpool is survived by his wife of 24 years, Vera Cavet-Vanderpool, his sister Harvie June Ferguson, aka Harvie June Van, niece, Tivvi Anna Ferguson-Austin, two sons, Will Vanderpool ex (Lisa Vanderpool) Walter Vanderpool (Sharon Vanderpool), Aunt Georgia Way (95) many neices, nephews and cousins. (8) GRANDCHILDREN: Jeremy Vanderpool, Jennifer Vanderpool, Kyle Vanderpool, Kevin Vanderpool, Janice Thompson, Wendell Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Maigan Thompson. (11) GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN Ethen Vanderpool, Kaleb Wyatt Vanderpool, Tennyson Vanderpool, Ellee and Willie Knight, Logan Schook, Dalton and Faith Thompson and Lane, Emma and Ned Elkins. BILLY FATE VANDERPOOL WILL BE MEMORALIZED WITH MILITARY HONORS AT MIDDLE TENNESSE VETERANS CEMETARY, 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, Tn., 37221. JUNE 22 at 2:00 P. M. SERVICE WILL INCLUDE A 21 GUN SALUTE. THE PRESENTATION OF THE FLAG BY THE HONOR GUARD OF THE U.S. MILITARY, A READING OF “OUR FLAG” BY HARVIE JUNE FERGUSON, MUSIC PERFORMED BY BRICE HENDERSON, EULOGY BY MIKE CORRIN.
