Nashville, TN
Celebration of Life will be held at Millcreek Baptist Church, 318 Wallace rd. Nashville, TN 37211 on Saturday, January 25th at 12:00pm.
Bradford Lynn Worthington, cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on May 4, 1950, in Nashville, Tennessee. On the snowy night of January 10, 2025, Brad was welcomed into heaven’s embrace by his beloved parents, Doug and Roberta Worthington, and his dear wife, Kim Fintel Worthington.
Brad is cherished by his four children: Jason Worthington, Audrey Price Worthington, Tiffany Fintel, and James Fintel. His spirit lives on in his cherished grandchildren: Katy, Victoria, Haley, Bailey, David, Keziah, Kalilah, and his first great-grandson, Micheal. He is also survived by his loving brother, Robert Worthington.
A lifelong member of Millcreek Baptist Church, Brad’s journey began when his parents brought him to the church while he was still in his mother’s womb, 74 years ago. Raised in a nurturing Christian home with a childhood filled with adventures in baseball, softball, hunting, and fishing, and he found joy in the camaraderie of the Boy Scouts. Influenced by his parents and numerous Godly mentors, including Bro. Clifford Gibson, Brad discovered his calling to help others at a young age.
With a heart for service, Brad began his career in law enforcement after attending the Police Academy in 1972, eventually retiring as a respected Detective. His bravery shone through in many heroic acts, in 1974 he helped save the lives of an elderly couple from a house fire and was awarded a Letter of Commendation. John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.”
He was also recognized in the winter of 1983 as the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce's Police Officer of the Year and awarded the Life Saving Medal from the Metro Nashville Police Department for rescuing a missing teenager during negative 10-degree temperatures.
Brad was also deeply involved in his church community, serving as the Director of Young at Heart and as a greeter and usher at Millcreek. He found happiness in connecting with others, especially at Phil Mitchell's shop, Bellshire Hardware, where he shared his wisdom and warmth with everyone he met.
Throughout his many years of service and dedication to his calling and passions, Brad was first and foremost a loving family man, sharing his wisdom and values with those he cherished most.
As we remember Brad, we hold close the scriptures that brought him comfort in his final days:
Micah 7:7 - “But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD; I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.”
Psalm 73:26 - “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Brad’s spirit will forever be a guiding light in our lives. As we remember him, let us celebrate a life filled with love, service, and faith, and carry forward his legacy of kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers the family would be honored for a donation to be made to the YWCA Abbie’s Safe Home. Please select “Domestic Violence Services & Pet Shelter” and put “In Memory of Bradford Worthington” under the comment section
