Milton-Stanfield, Carmen R., 65, born Jan. 6, 1956, in Little Rock, AR, to the late Nora Jean Wright-Gamble and Robert Milton, died on April 12, 2021. She grew up in Little Rock obtaining high honors from grade school, high school and college earning her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Master's degree in Education, and subsequently her PhD. Carmen attended Howard University School of Law in the 1980s and familiar with Fisk University and Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN.Carmen served in the Regular Army from June 3, 1974 to May 27, 1977, traveling abroad serving nine months in Okinawa, Japan as a legal clerk then returning to the states serving in Fort Hood, TX. Carmen honorably discharged from the Army on May 27, 1977. She moved to Nashville, TN, during the 1980s subsequently starting her own business in Access Publishing. She also authored and published several books.Carmen attended the Glencliff United Methodist Church (UMC), Pastored by Neelley Hicks, in 2017 bringing several people who did not have a church home. She was called "Carmen Angel" because she was a light in sharing the Good News wherever she went in tangible ways by giving love through food, clothing and caring for homes of others. Carmen was an example in showing selfless service to others by putting herself last while serving those in need.She is survived by one son, Lumumba Dialo (Mike) Hadley; two grandchildren, Mikena KeAudra Hadley and Jordin Renee Walden of Little Rock, AR; two sisters, Terri V. Johnson and Quizé Adriane P. (Priscilla) Welsh of Little Rock, AR; two brothers, Garland E. (Hilda) Moorman of Conyers, GA, and Harry M. Caldwell Jr., of Pasadena, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and numerous devoted friends and pastors of Nashville, TN.Visitation for Friends and Family will be from 11 AM - 12 PM and Funeral Service at 12 PM, Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Glencliff UMC, 2901 Glencliff Rd, Nashville, TN 37211.Burial (with Military Honors) will be at 2 PM, Middle Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Ln, Nashville, TN 37221.Funeral Services will be streamed live on Glencliff's Facebook page, like the page to get a reminder at URL https://m.facebook.com/GlencliffUMCTN Donations can be in Carmen's memory to Glencliff UMC Food Ministries.
