Carol Butler

Carol Marie Butler of Portland, TN went to be with her Lord on August 28th after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born in Toledo, OH to Esther and Albert Butler on December 23, 1960. She is survived by five brothers: Ron and his wife Linda, David and his wife Sue, Jim and his wife Carla, Tim and his wife Kristie, Mike, and an adopted brother, Keith. She had Thirteen nieces and nephews and nine grand nieces and nephews. All of her family was devoted to their favorite aunt and sister as she was to them. Carol served her Lord through Immanuel Baptist Church, Portland, TN in many capacities, usually in ministries involving children. She taught Sunday School for more than 20 years.She was never married but she made family instead of friends. Carol loved working in her garden, especially with her flowers, and taking care of all of her adopted animals. She was a faithful employee of Walmart for 35 years.Visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2017, 11am-8pm at Immanuel Baptist Church, 751 Scattersville Rd in Portland. A second visitation will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017, 11am-1pm at Union Chapel General Baptist Church, 1125 College St in Portland, where funeral services will follow at 1pm. Interment will follow services at the Immanuel Baptist Cemetery, Portland.
