Caroline Hagewood

Caroline Thoni Hagewood, born April 5, 1927, passed this life peacefully at Bethany Health Care Center of Nashville, October 21, 2016. Caroline was the eldest daughter of the late Louis and Martha Thoni. She was a descendant of Swiss immigrants who settled the colony of Gruetli, Grundy County, TN in 1869. Both of Caroline's paternal and maternal grandparents operated dairies in Davidson County, Star and Edelweiss respectively. Caroline met her husband of 64 years, the late Biscoe B. Hagewood, as a student at Nashville Central High School. She is also preceded in death by a son, Keith Brian Hagewood, and a sister, Mary Martha Page. Caroline is survived by her sisters, Helen Nussbaumer and Ruby Cloud, son Thomas Lynn (Kay) Hagewood, and grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily Hagewood. Visitation will be held Wednesday October 26, 2016 from 11:00am -12:30 p.m at Main Street Church of Christ in Springfield, TN. The funeral will start at 12:30 pm and burial will follow at Cross Plains, TN cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Health Care.
