Chyrel Ann Marshall born on January 2, 1964, the first baby born at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator, Illinois that year to Jerry Gene and Dewey Irene (Burns) Marshall, was also their first born child.
Chy had 3 siblings growing who are now married and gave Chy many nieces and nephews to love and care for. Jerry Leon and Sharon Marshall of Bovina, TX, Robin Cyntitha (Marshall) Reeves of North Wilkesboro, NC and William Thomas and Candice (Brown) Marshall of Corning, AR, a total of 6 nieces and 5 nephews.
Chy grew up in Southeast Missouri attending school at Grayridge Elementary and High School in Essex, Missouri, but actually graduated high school at Naylor High School.
Her passion for art grew throughout the years. Chy could be seen carrying a sketch pad and pencils or charcoal wherever she went. You could see her sit and draw or paint, and has been known as a self taught artist to many for years.
Chy attended Three Rivers Community College and got her associates degree in art.
Several years later worked in the bakery department of a local grocery store, where she learned of airbrushing as a way to decorate cakes. She enjoyed it so much that she purchased everything one needs to airbrush, but she learned most techniques on her own. Rather than airbrushing cakes, she was airbrushing her own designs on t-shirts, pillow cases and other merchandise. By trial and error she made her own designed patterns which made the process of airbrushing the same on each t-shirt much easier.
Chy saw beauty everywhere she looked, from a simple flower or the way the sunlight cast shadows through trees. She airbrushed t-shirts and license plates at fairs and festivals for many years in Southeast Missouri before moving to Tennessee. She then decided to sell merchandise through e-Bay and later designed her own webpage business.
Chy was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, but she didn't let that get her down or stop her from doing what she enjoyed, living life and doing her artwork. After 5 years of being in remission, she was diagnosed with brain tumors, liver and lung cancer.
Then Chy met the love of her life, best friend and soul mate, Patrick (Pat) Shayne Hunter.
Chy and Pat became as one in a spiritual celebration of unity of marriage on April 4, 2014. These two people completed the other. They got to spend less than 3 years together... but smiled each day, lived each day and loved one another each day as man and wife.
Chy breathed her last breath at 5:50 AM (CST) on July 30, 2015.
You have heard the phrase, "Gone, but not forgotten!", Chy is not gone, her beauty lives on in our hearts and in her artwork, which can be seen throughout the United States and abroad; whether a painting on a wall, an airbrushed t-shirt, batting helmet, license plate, pillow case, baseball cap, a sketch, coloring page or photograph that she took with her camera. She was and will always be, "The Artist". Chy will always be remembered and a smile will always be seen.
Chy's body will be cremated and there will be a special private memorial service at a later date, a celebration of life and art. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Chy's memory to Alive Hospice 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203 or www.AliveHospice.org.
