, died on February 18, 2015 of an undisclosed illness. He was 58 at the time of his passing.A native of Nashville, Cloud formed several bands, including the punk group
The Psychotic Night Auditors
and the
Cruel Oval Brown Stomachs
before launching the experimental garage rock group
Dave Cloud & The Gospel of Power
in 1996.The group, formed from a confederation of Nashville musicians, released several albums and toured Europe in 2006 after UK label Fire Records re-released Cloud's entire catalog as the double-CD
Napolean of Temperance.
In addition to his music, Cloud was noted for his community service in Nashville, serving as a volunteer book reader for visually impaired persons, and for recording thousands of hours of audio books and magazines for the Nashville Talking Library.A post on Cloud's website said: "It is with great sadness that we announce that Dave Cloud passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, after an illness. We extend our sympathies to Dave's family and our gratitude to the many friends and fans who supported Dave during his life.
