David Turner

David L Turner, resident of Smyrna, TN died in his home on 1/15/2018 He was 70. Services will be held on Saturday, January 27 ^th at 11AM at Lascassas Baptist Church, 4750 E Jefferson Pike, Lascassas TN, with Reverend Bob Riddle officiating, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Nashville. There will be no graveside service. David was the son of T.V Turner Jr and Helen Turner nee Rea both of Pontotoc MS, where he spent his youth and is the grandson of T.V. Turner Sr. and Addie Turner and William ("Daddy Jack") Phoenix Jackson and Mala (Griffin) Jackson.David Graduated with a BA from Blue Mountain College, Blue Mountain , MS and later received an honorary Doctorate from there. David was a Baptist Minister and served at the following churches: Chalybeate Baptist Church, Chalybeate, MS, Birmingham Ridge Baptist Church, Saltillo, MS, Plank Road Baptist Church, Slaughter , LA,FBC Centerville, Centerville, IL FBC Mascoutah, Mascoutah, IL, Lafayette Park Baptist Church, St Louis, MO, FBC Holly Spring, MS, North Prospect Baptist Church, Ypsilanti, MI, Lascassas Baptist Church, Lascassas, TN and Lebanon Campground Church, Bell Buckle, TN and was active in Service To Servants, a ministry to Liberia, West Africa. He also worked for 14 years as a software technician and trainer with HMIS Software Company.He is survived by his sister. Mary Margaret Miles nee Turner, of Baytown TX and her children USAF LT. COL Angela Stepp stationed in the Netherlands, Jennifer, Matthew, Martha and Valarie as well as his son, Michael Turner-Hicks (Randy) and Michael’s mother Beverly Cox nee Heberer.
