Doris Carter

July 16, 1932 — January 28, 2019

Doris Marie Carter, age 86 died January 29, 2019 in Nashville, TN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles R. & Annie Pierce. Survived by husband Carlton, son Jamie (Russie), grandchildren Corianne Carter Gatti (Pablo), Lincoln Carter (Emily), and Landon Carter. She is also survived by brother Gilbert Pierce (Tobie) & twin sister Deloris Langley. Doris was a graduate of the Univ. Of North Carolina at Greensboro & also Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. Doris was a faithful member of Woodmont Baptist Church in Nashville for over 60 years, and absolutely loved singing in the choir the entire time. She had various other leadership roles in the church as well. After having started her career as a school teacher to kindergartners & 2 ^nd graders, Doris retired from the Tennessee Baptist Convention back in the early 90s. A memorial service will be held Saturday Feb. 2 ^nd at 11:00 a.m. at Woodmont Baptist Church, with visitation prior from 10-11. Additionally, visitation will also be held Friday evening at Woodmont from 4:00-6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to either the Alzheimer's Association ( www.alz.org ) or the Music Ministry at Woodmont Baptist Church in Nashville, 2100 Woodmont Blvd. Nashville, Tennessee 37215
