Earl Williams Jr.

Earl Cranston Williams, Jr., age 96, was born December 26, 1920 in Corbett, MD and passed away August 3, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Billie Leona Harris Williams, his son, Earl C. Williams III, and his brothers, Wade and Charles Williams. He is survived by daughters, Andrea Perkerson (Preston), Janet Williams (Michael Bauer) and Linda Putney (Steve), grandchildren Preston, Scott, Christine, Lee Anne, Amelia, Elizabeth, and Eleanor, and great grandchildren, Fraser, Luke, Caroline, Anderson, Lena, Harper and Willa. Earl served in the US Army Air Forces during World War II. He received a BS degree at the University of Maryland and studied for a Masters in Engineering at Yale. He was the TN State Traffic Engineer, president of the TN Section of ITE, president of the Southern Section of ITE, member of the Metro Beautification Commission and was involved in numerous other community, civic and professional organizations. After retirement, he spent over 15 years building a 36 ft. ocean-going sailboat. Among his other interests were history, photography, camping, swimming, windsurfing, biking, and motorcycling. A celebration of Earl’s life will take place on Saturday, August 12 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 172 Carnavon Parkway, Nashville, TN 37205.
