Edward Brannan

Edward Allen Brannan, born December 1, 1936, in Decherd, Tennessee, died in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, at the age of 83 at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center on January 3, 2020. A dedicated career serviceman and Green Beret, Ed served in Korea. He also fought in Vietnam where he was exposed to Agent Orange, which likely caused the Parkinson's disease that devastated the last years of his life.The family will forever be grateful for the dedicated and loving care Ed received from the VA staff. Ed will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Madison, Tennessee, on January 10, 2020. The visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. and the Mass begins at 11:00 a.m.After joining the Army at the age of 17, Ed was stationed in Panama where he met and married his great love, Secundina Marquínez. They had seven children together. Ed was a loving and supportive father. He died with family at his side.Ed loved to run. He ran many 5K races, several half marathons, and one marathon until Parkinson's disease limited his mobility. After retiring from the Army, Ed started Hobby Radio, a remote-control radio shop, and then opened Rivergate Hobby Shop with a partner.Ed is survived by his children: A. Jason Brannan, Christopher Brannan, Ada Elisa Brannan-Ramsey, Ana María Brannan, Venus Niner, Sheila Brannan Longo, and George Allen Brannan. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Sherry Tiedt, Rodney Brannan, Jonathan Brannan, Linda Bennett, Patricia Rohling, Georgiana McCollum, and Nancy Taylor. Ed has 17 surviving grandchildren: Maximillian Brannan, Alexander Brannan, Mary Brannan, Anna Brannan, Thomas Brannan, Patrick Brannan, Philip Hudson, Reyna Elisa Niner, Amelia Niner, Genevieve Hickey, Lucas Hickey, Zachary Ramsey-DeWerff, Adrienne Moul, Brandon Ramsey, Ethan Brannan, Isabel Brannan, and Sean Brannan. Ed is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Christian Brannan, Michael Brannan, Jameson Brannan, Nicholas Brannan, Benjamin Brannan, Joseph Brannan, Laine Gutierrez, Lucia Gutierrez, Enoch Gutierrez, Philomena Gutierrez, Amara Hudson, Kali Ramsey, Aislin Moul, Zoe Moul, Ellie Moul, and Lily Moul.
