Elizabeth (Betty) Ann (O’Brien) Dellipoali, age 90, of La Vergne, TN, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at home, surrounded and showered with love by her family. She was born May 26, 1931 to the late Thomas Luke and Mary Margaret (Murphy) O’Brien in Stamford, CT. Betty is also predeceased by her husband Carmine J. Dellipoali, her daughter Irene (Orsino) Curmon and her five brothers, Thomas (Jack), Morris, Frank, Mark and George O’Brien
Betty is survived by her daughter Laura (Orsino) Nota, of La Vergne, TN and son Vito J. Orino of Davie, FL., Grandchildren: Clayton Sweet (Katie), Tracey O’Hara (Jeff), Robbie Nota (Nicole), Christina Emerton (Keith), Michael Nota (Erin) and Craig Nota (Keri). She had 11 great grandchildren, Jordan, Sydney, Hope, Lily, Taylor, Melanie, Bailey, Ashleigh, Cadence, Joey and Michael and great great-granddaughter Brinley plus sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews in CT & FL.
She met the love of her life in 1954 at the Brass Rail Restaurant where she was a waitress and Carmine was the bartender. It was love at first sight. Carmine had told his friends he was going to marry that girl. After a very long courtship (13 years) they married in 1967 and became owners of the Brass Rail in 1968 – 1975.
Betty retired from Darien Board of Education Middlesex Middle School cafeteria in 2007 and moved to TN. She missed the serving/seeing the children so much she took a position at Williamson County Board of Education Lipscomb Elementary School cafeteria and retired again in 2014.
Betty loved traveling and would return back to CT every year to visit with family and friends for the entire summer. She would enjoy the meetings in May & June with the Columbiettes St. Augustine Knights of
Columbus Council #41, going to lunches and her favorite was Mohegan Sun Casino in CT. Upon returning to TN, you could always find her at the La Vergne Senior Citizens Center where she loved to play games, go out for lunches, or go on any trips they would take.
A memorial mass will be held on August 19, 2022 at 11:00 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 10682 Old Nashville Highway, Smyrna, TN 37167. Elizabeth will then be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Nashville, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Luke Catholic Church or you can honor Betty’s legacy demonstrating, forgiveness, kindness and love.
