Emma Catherine Cowart

On Thursday, December 5th, 2024, Catherine Cowart, a loving mom, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at Providence Assisted Living at the age of 97.

Catherine was born at home on November 4th, 1927 to Herbert and Merzie Blackwell in Marietta Ga. Catherine graduated from RL Osborne High School and attended business school in Atlanta. She also worked for IBM and spoke of riding the street car in downtown Atlanta to get to work.

Catherine remained active and social right up until her death, enjoying playing bingo and dominos at the Mt. Juliet Senior Center, going out to eat, attending church and participating in all the social events at Assisted Living. She was known for her quick wit and her kind and compassionate spirit.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband James Cowart. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Lynn Fairchild from Marietta GA and Vicki Holcombe from Mt. Juliet TN, 5 grandchildren, Kevin Fairchild from Hickory NC, Michael Holcombe from Acworth GA, Kris Fairchild from Peachtree Corners GA, Melissa Holcombe from Mt. Juliet TN, Karla Fairchild Louissaint from Marietta GA and 8 great grandchildren.
