Eric Leland Holford was born January 20, 1966 in Nashville, TN. He entered peacefully into rest on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Community Hospice and Palliative Care in Jacksonville, FL.
He was the only child of his mother: Annie Mildred Holmes, who preceded him in death. In addition to his mother, Eric was preceded in death by stepfather: Charles Holmes; maternal grandparents: Sam and Vila McClain; uncle: Sam McClain, Jr; father: Leland Holford, Jr; paternal grandparents: Leland and Hattie Holford, Sr.
Eric received his education in the Metro Nashville School System and served in the U.S. Marine Corp (1984-1988). He was stationed at Camp Lajuene, SC as well as serving in Okinawa, Japan as a heavy vehicle operator. He traveled with the Hard Corps Band (1991-1993) as the drum technician. Eric obtained his Barber's License after moving to Jacksonville, FL.
In his early years he enjoyed a special bond with his "Daddy Sam" reading and discussing the Bible. Eric attended First Baptist Church South Inglewood when he lived in Nashville and Potter House in Jacksonville, FL. He loved music, especially jazz, hymns and blues. He enjoyed travelling, new challenges and social media.
Eric Holford leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife and caretaker: Michelle James Holford; three children: Eric Holford, Jr, Ceirra Johnson and Lelah Holford; two granddaughters: Aldrionna and Riley; six siblings: Terry Hailey of Detroit, MI, Pamela Taylor of Chicago, IL, Angelita (John) Stroman, Marchelle (Terren) Perry, Shelania Henderson, Felethia Crutcher; aunts and uncles: Rosa Hayes, Esta McClain, Cordelia (Ben Grover) Maxwell, Charles McClain, John Ben (Shauneen) McClain, Deloris (Roy) Wilks and Raymond Holford; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
