George Armour

February 17, 1927 — February 10, 2018

George Gilbert Armour passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2018, one week before his 91st birthday. He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian (Galasso) Armour.George was a son of the late George Wesley Thomas Armour and Edna Alfreena (Keirstead) Armour. A nearly lifelong resident of Waterbury, he graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1944. George proudly served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II. He graduated from McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York. He was employed by Chase Brass and Copper as a lab technician for almost 40 years, and he also worked with his father and uncle in the house painting and wallpapering business.George enjoyed golfing fishing, gardening, woodworking, traveling, theater and music of all kinds. He had fond memories of growing up on North Main Street, his wonderful neighbors on Beth Lane in Waterbury, his snowbird friends at Island Echoes in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and his newest friends at Brookdale Belle Meade in Nashville where he served as president of the Residents Association and co-chair of the Alzheimer's Association cookbook fundraiser. George was also a past president of the East Mountain Men's Golf Association, and a past club champion at East Mountain.George is survived by his daughter, Nancy Armour Barker, and son-in-law Michael of Nashville, Tenn.; his grandson, John Armour Barker of Nashville, Tenn.; his stepgranddaughter, Amanda (Barker) Levie and her husband, Nathaniel, of Gloucester, Mass.; two stepgreat-granddaughters, Lily Olivia Levie and Brooke Mackenzie Levie; his sisters-in-law, Elvira (Marano) Armour, Anne (Galasso) Cipriano and Ellen (Fillipelli) Galasso; and many dear nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews. George was also predeceased by his sister, Margaret Armour; his brother, Harlan Armour; brothers-in-law Anthony Galasso and Mario Cipriano; and his wonderful aunts, Alice (Keirstead) Leclair, Eva (Cameron) Bentley, Susan (Cameron) Paige and Dorothy Cameron.His immediate family would like to thank all of his many family members and friends for being part of a life well lived.Condolences may be sent to Nashville Funeral and Cremation at nashvillefuneralandcremation.com.
