Irene Steele

Irene Estelle Steele, age 90, passed away on May 25th at local infirmary in Nashville TN. She was born on February 28th, 1925 in Ashland City, Tennessee to Spurgeon Simpkins and Hattie Mai Simpkins.
Irene grew up in Nashville, TN. and was one of nine children. She worked for C.B Ragland for over 30 years prior to her retirement in 1986.
Irene married James Marshall Steele in 1944 in Spartanburg South Carolina. They were married for 36 years prior to his death in 1980. Irene was a simple and true god loving Christian lady who enjoyed nothing more than making a hot pan of fresh homemade biscuits and a big pot of pinto beans for friends and family members when they would come to visit.
Irene is survived by her children Ben and Jackie Steele, grandchildren Brooke, Tracy, Ben Jr, Dustin and Wesley, brother Grady Simpkins and sister Margaret Williams all of Middle Tennessee.
Irene also dearly loved Lori Hiter, her daily caregiver for the past four years, and Tammy Steele who provided tender and loving support during the final years of her life.
Irene was preceded in death by children Deborah Steele (1973) and James Steele Jr. (2006).A simple graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at 1:00PM on Wednesday May 27th and burial will follow. NASHVILLE FUNERAL AND CREMATION
