James Haislip

Mr. James Michael Haislip, age 58 of Murfreesboro, passed away February 6, 2016 at his residence.He was born January 1, 1958 in Murfreesboro and was the son of Theodore Harrell "Ted" Haislip and the late Mattie Laura DuBois Haislip.Michael was a 1976 graduate of Oakland High School and worked in maintenance at MTSU for several years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and shared his smile and laughter with those around him. In his free time he enjoyed working on small engines and cars. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman, as long as his health allowed. He was a devoted grandfather and passed along his love for outdoor sports to his grandchildren.Preceded in death by his mother, Mattie DuBois Haislip, he is survived by his wife: Rita Short Haislip; son: Jonathan Codey (Jade Abshire) Haislip; daughter: Cortney (Robert) Orend; 4 grandchildren: Chandler Haislip, Kaylee Orend, McKensie Orend and Jeremiah Orend; father & step-mother: Ted and Virginia Haislip; 4 siblings: Greg (Helen) Haislip, Wanda (David) Benfield, Scott (Lisa) Haislip and Vickie Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.The family will gather with friends on Thursday from 11:00 am to 1:00 PM at the Unity Free Will Baptist Church in Murfreesboro.
