Janet White

July 7, 1935 — April 18, 2017

Janet Gail was born to Mike G. & Texie Beatrice (Calhoun) Peters (both deceased) in Hampton, Tn. She was one of 7 children. She received her Angel wings after a 10 year battle with dementia. She spent her childhood in East Tennessee, roaming the hills & hollers with her siblings, cousins, & friends. The family moved to Mishawaka, Indiana when she was a teenager & it was there that she met Nathan Eugene White. “Gene” was from Turrell, Arkansas & fresh out of the army. They married on March 20, 1954. They had 3 children: Wanda Jean (White) Knight, Nathan Allen White (deceased), & Joy Lynn White; 2 grandchildren: Brandy Leigh (Patterson) Tucker & Jamie Leigh White (deceased); & 1 great grandchild: Faith Leigh Tucker. During their marriage, they resided in Indiana, Arkansas, Mississippi; eventually ending up back in Hampton, Tennessee in the early ’80’s. They helped care for Mike & Texie in their later years & elected to stay in the area after their deaths. In those years, Janet Gail had a constant parade of pets: chickens, goats (one of which enjoyed car rides), cats, & rescued dogs. She had a particular fondness for hummingbirds. Her career resume included a bakery, lunch counter at Woolworth, & RX Honing. She enjoyed sewing, painting, crafting, gardening, & bird watching. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was a bit feisty, loved music & touched many people’s lives. Most recently, the staff of C & D halls at Quality Center for Rehability & Healing in Lebanon, TN. She was a resident there for 4 years & made friends with many during her residency. They became a part of her family. She loved them as much as they loved her & we can not thank them enough for their compassion, thoughtfulness, & professionalism. They are truly Angels here on earth. Also many thanks to our Arkansas family branch who made several visits during her Quality residency. As per Janet Gail’s request, there will be no funeral. We will miss her, but we know that she has been reunited with her beloved husband, son, & granddaughter. Rest in peace & enjoy the reunion. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to your local animal shelter.www.CallNFC.com
