Jennifer Leigh (Wood) Fender of Gallatin, TN passed away on Nov. 4, 2019 in Nashville after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 35.
Jennifer (Jenny) was born on Dec. 1, 1983 in Livermore, CA. She grew up in Livermore and Danville, CA, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Jenny attended San Ramon Valley High School in Danville for nearly three full years before relocating with her family to Southern California in 2000. She graduated from Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills in 2001 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cal State Fullerton in 2006.
Jenny and her then-fiance, Derek Fender, relocated to Grovetown, GA in 2007 and were married in Riverside, CA in 2009. They also lived in Jacksonville, FL and Chatsworth, CA before moving to the Nashville area in 2014, living in Antioch, TN before settling in Gallatin in early 2019.
While carrying the couple's daughter, Kenleigh Aslin Fender, who was born April 22, 2019 in Nashville, Jenny was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. Jenny valiantly underwent chemotherapy and other treatments at Vanderbilt - Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, inspiring all who knew her along the way.
Jenny is survived by her loving husband, Derek Fender of Gallatin; her beautiful daughter, Kenleigh Fender, of Gallatin; her parents, Dan and Kim Wood of Anaheim Hills, CA; her brother, Kenny Wood of Nashville; and her maternal grandmother, Joan Longman of Pleasanton, CA.
An informal memorial service took place on Nov. 8 at the family home in Gallatin. Subsequent remembrances, in Tennessee and California, are pending.
