Jerry Melton

March 2, 1955 - September 11, 2019Nashville native Jerry Wayne Melton passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019. He was one of 5 children of Jesse Melton, Jr. and Mary Alice Jenkins Melton, and made his career as owner of his own company, TN Security.Jerry will be remembered as a dedicated family man and a loyal friend. He had a passion for his business, his farm and any project he could do with his hands. He was a jack of all trades and always willing to learn something new to increase his knowledge. On his favorite days, you could find him riding horse trails with his wife, listening to music, tending to his garden or enjoying his Mama's cooking with all his family by his side. And if you were lucky enough to call Jerry your friend, you knew you had someone you could always count on.Jerry's children were his pride and joy – his daughter, Amy, a lifelong "Daddy's Girl," his sons, Jason and Joey, his favorite sidekicks in the shop and in life, and his step-daughters, Amber and Brittany, who he loved and treated as his own from day one. Together, they gave him 14 grandchildren, who were the light of his life and always had him smiling. He never missed an opportunity to love on his babies and cheer them on in whatever they pursued.He was preceded in death by his father Jesse Melton, Jr. and brothers Danny Melton and Jackie Melton. He is survived by his wife Angela Melton, daughter Amy Rockett (Joe), sons Joey Melton (Julia) and Jason Melton (Jessica), step-daughters Amber Parker (Thomas) and Brittany Smith (Zach), mother Mary Alice Melton, brother Johnny Melton (Karen) and sister Cindy Melton, 14 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.His passion and zeal for life will be celebrated by his family and friends with a visitation gathering on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Rural Hill Church of Christ in Antioch, TN and again on Tuesday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00 PM at the church. As he wished, Jerry will be returned to his garden where he found the most peace and comfort.
