Jerry Taylor

June 19, 1949 — March 1, 2016

Gerald Lee “Jerry” Taylor was born to R. G. “Bud” and Jo Seay Taylor on June 19, 1949 in Stamford, TX. He passed away on March 1, 2016 at the age of 66 with his sister, Linda, by his side.He is survived by his son: Chase Cameron and his wife, Emily; grandchildren: Austin and Brooke Cameron of Fairfield, CT; sister: Linda and brother-in-law: Bill Andrews of Austin, TX; niece: Tiffany A James and husband: Jason; and nephew: Michael Andrews and Sara. He had numerous aunts and cousins. He is also survived by Paul, Dillion and Glen Searcy, whom he raised after the death of their mother, and made sure they had a good education. They have all become good men.Jerry was most proud of Chase and his success as a family man, and in his field of golf course management.Jerry’s life was music – it came from his soul and was his life blood, hope and reason to live. He was more talented than he ever knew and touched so many lives, encouraging them to hope, dream and never give up.“I will miss him every day that I have left on earth,” states his sister, Linda. “We talked almost every morning and laughed, until lately when we cried. Today he is a peace and is teaching St. Peter to say, ‘Yeah, Buddy.'” “I’ll see you on the other side. Make glorious music in Heaven!”The Taylor family has requested that in lieu of flowers or memorials, contributions be made to the Abilene Education Foundation-Jerry Taylor Scholarship Fund, to help an AHS student who shows exceptional talent in music. The Foundation say it is important that any checks need to designate on the memo line or be accompanied with a note that says: Jerry Taylor Scholarship Fund.
