ROHELIER, THE BURIAL WILL NOT TAKE PLACE AS SCHEDULED ON DECEMBER 23, 2015, BUT WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR A LATER DATE***Joe Edward Rohelier, of Nashville, TN, passed away on Monday, December 14th, 2015 at the age of 73.Joe was born to parents Edward Ross Rohelier and Elnora Polson on August 17, 1942 in Madison, TN. He grew up as the youngest of five children and attended Goodlettsville High School. In 1960, he joined the U.S. Navy and worked as a Boiler Attendant and after completing one tour of duty was in the Naval Reserves for an additional four years. He served aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga during the Cuban Missile Crisis.In 1963, Joe married his bride of 52 years, Catherine Clair Quinn, and they had two children. Joe went to work for Channel 5 News initially as a Camera Man and worked on several programs to include Night Train, Hee Haw, and assisted with the creation of Talk of the Town. He finished his career at the station as a Broadcasting Director. After leaving Channel 5, Joe worked as an Independent Contractor for Airborne Express, and up until right before his death, he was a Transportation Specialist for American Music City Taxi. This was a position that he dearly loved and was committed to working with and assisting individuals with disabilities. Joe was honored to receive the 2007 “extra mile award” given by Nashville MTA For exceptional service, commitment, and respect to the community and transporting people with disabilities.Joe is survived by his bride, Clair; his son, Joe Edward Rohelier, Jr.; his daughter, Hope Rohelier Clark; sisters Betty Bailey, Lucy Walker, and Annette Roddy; and numerous nieces and nephews.Joe was a very loving Husband as well as a wonderful Father. He will be dearly missed by many, but he will never be forgotten.Following a Cremation, friends and family will be invited to attend a graveside service with Military Honors at The Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, TN. The service is Wednesday December 23, 2015 at 1pm. The family is grateful for condolences, and request that donations be directed to a charity that serves animals or to the Sarah Cannon Center in Nashville.
