John Mcalister

John Hill McAlister, Died 2-16-16 at age 85 with family gathered around him. He was preceded in death by parents, Ivo Burns McAlister and Bertha Cox McAlister. Born in Nashville, TN, he attended Duncan Preparatory School, graduated from Hillsboro High School, & attended Peabody College. He was a member of the US Air Force, serving in Japan, Alaska, Indo China & the US as a flight engineer on C-119s.
He was employed at the Third National/Suntrust Bank for 38 years, retiring in 1989. John was a volunteer with Junior Achievement for a number of years. He was an avid boater & held a commercial Coast Guard pilot's license. He was a talented wood worker, making many pieces of fine furniture & enjoyed working on his farm in Adams, TN. He was a member of Belle Meade United Methodist Church since 1963 & Commodore Yacht Club, where he served a term as Commodore, as well as many years on the Board .
He is survived by : wife, Betty McAlister; children, Lynn & Alan Christman, Johnny & Terry McAlister, Peter & Tracey McAlister; grandchildren, Andrew & Brittany Day, Adam Reviere, Kate & Ben Scott, Courtney McAlister & fiancee Greg Fischer, Kylie & John Talbert, John McAlister, III and great grandsons, Jackson Day & Noah Scott. Memorial service Monday, Feb. 22 at Belle Meade United Methodist Church at 3 pm. Visitation in the lounge 1:30 - 3pm.
