Joseph Daniel Stephens

On Wednesday October 16, 2024, Joseph Daniel Stephens, loving father of three children, passed away at the age of 71. Joseph “Danny/Steve" was born on April 8th,1953 to CJ and Mildred “Bow” (Rabon) Stephens in Chattahoochee, Florida. Joseph was a retired Army 1st Sargeant, he served from 1972-1992. He was awarded the Defense Service Medal with bronze star, Army achievement medal 2nd oak leaf cluster, Army commendation medal 1st oak leaf cluster, Meritorious service medal 1st oak leaf cluster, Army good conduct medal (5th award), Southwest Asia service medal with 2 bronze service stars and Professional development Ribbon with numeral 3. He had an Associate's degree in Accounting and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Joseph had a big heart, and he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Camping, fishing, and taking trips with the grandkids. He loved his country and his family. He was always ready to discuss politics. He had a big heart and was always ready to help someone in need. He loved New Hope Christian Church family of which he was a member. He had begun moving to Tennessee where he and his wife had longed to live. Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, father, grandson Brandon, wife Catherine and brother Doug. He is survived by two brothers Donny (Sandra) Stephens and David (Erica) Stephens, children Angela (Tim) Merchant, son’s Jerry Ireland and Eric Ireland. Grandchildren Marissa (Jimmy) Carver, Dillon (Sarah) Ireland, and Taylor Merchant. A Memorial service will be held on November 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at New Hope Christian Church 2550 Courthouse Rd. Guyton, GA 31312. There will be a lunch provided after the service.
