On Sunday evening, February 21, 2021, Karen Byrne Lawrence passed away at the age of 62 in Nashville, TN. Karen was born on August 8, 1958, in Wantagh, New York to Joan and Arthur Byrne. She received her Ph.D in Psychology from Vanderbilt University in 1993, and she worked both in private practices and for the State of Tennessee until 2020.Karen was passionate about community service and volunteered for numerous local organizations and events including the Room in the Inn program, the Nashville Zoo, and the Tomato Art Fest. She was an active member of the Nashville community and loved attending festivals, concerts, and events in and around Nashville, particularly those benefiting a good cause. She loved being outdoors, reading, and enjoying the company of friends. She also loved to travel, visiting 5 continents and numerous Countries in her lifetime, and made many friends and memories along the way. She was known as a great friend, a passionate social advocate, and an avid adventurer, and will be missed greatly by her friends and family.Karen was preceded in death by her Father, Arthur. She is survived by two daughters, Bridget and Caroline Lawrence, her mother, Joan Byrne, and her sister, Patricia Byrne.A memorial and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 27 between 2:00 and 5:00pm.
