Leslie Steven Thompson, 68, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018, at his home in Murfreesboro, TN while under Hospice care and surrounded by his family after a brief battle with pancreatic and liver cancer.He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Margaret (Marty) Mullins Thompson; his daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Matt Bryant; his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Drew Hardin; his son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Angela Thompson; and five grandchildren, Ben and Lillie Bryant, Hunter and Baker Hardin, and Evie Thompson. He also leaves behind his brothers, Mike Thompson and wife Valerie, and Greg Thompson and wife Joy. He will also be missed by nieces, nephews, many friends, co-workers and church members.Mr. Thompson, known to those who knew him as Steve, had recently retired from Verizon Wireless, where he worked as the Supervisor for the local number portability operations team for 15 years. He was a very active member of St. Patrick's Anglican Church in Murfreesboro, where he served on the vestry as the Senior Warden for 8 years, served on the altar, was an usher, and one of the founding members of the Safety Team. He was also very involved in The Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (Knights Templar), where he served as Commander for the St. Andrews Priory.Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, servant and friend. He was an avid and skilled hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed target shooting with friends and family. He was well known for his culinary talents and his love of music. He played the guitar, banjo and mandolin and spent countless nights singing and playing with those whom he loved over the years. He will be immensely missed by all who knew and loved him.Receiving of friends is scheduled for Friday, September 14 from 4-7 PM at the Cole House behind St. Patrick's Anglican Church at 7103 Baker Road, Murfreesboro. Requiem Mass will be held at the church on Saturday, September 15, at 3 PM. Per Steve's request, an Irish style Wake/Celebration of Life, will follow the service at the Cole House.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Thompson's name to St. Patrick's Anglican Church with the memo Grow Fund.
