Nashville - age 98 reunited with her family and friends, March 25, 2018 Born in Nashville, February 22, 1920. Preceded in death by parents, Carrie, and Charles Payne; husband, Walter E. Gardner; son, Andrew B. Gardner; brother, Thomas R. Payne.
She is survived by daughter, Gail Gardner (Dick Redman);sons, Walter N. Gardner, and Jeffrey E. Gardner; Sylvia Gardner, and Freda Fuller. Six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. After graduating from Hume Fogg she began her long career. Retiring at the young age of 70, from Werthan Industries; continued working for Abe Rappaport and Albert Werthan, finally retiring at age 80. Her wide range of friends from the richest to the poorest were all loved and respected the same. Quick wit brought a smile to everyone she touched. An avid reader and very informed on all current events, she loved a good debate. As per her request there will be no formal service.
Memorials may be made to her beloved Cohn Senior Renaissance Center, 4805 Park Avenue, Nashville, TN 37209, where she happily shared the last years of her life with her friends and extended family. www.CallNFC.com
