Marcus Everett Smith, 67, of Nashville, passed away Thursday, February 17th, 2022. He was born on the March Air Force Base in Riverside County, California on July 28th, 1954. Marcus was married to Nancy Smith on May 5th, 1980, in Minden, Nevada. He met Nancy in the early '70s in the San Francisco Bay Area and they moved to Tennessee together a few months after they were married.
Marcus worked in carpentry for close to four decades. In addition to woodworking, Marcus enjoyed fishing in his canoe on various Tennessee rivers, playing his self-built guitar, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
On weekends you could find him in his favorite living room chair watching NASCAR races and cowboy shows, or in his special basement spot listening to his favorite vinyl records. He loved traveling with his family and hiking in places like the Smoky Mountains, Yosemite, and Point Lobos. Some of his favorite destinations were California beaches, from the Boardwalk at Santa Cruz to Martin’s Beach in Half Moon Bay.
Marcus was preceded in death by his mother, Clare Smith, his older brother, Sandon Smith, his younger brother, Gabriel Smith, and his older sister Candida Smith. He was survived by his wife and best friend, Nancy Smith, his beloved daughter, Kelly Smith, and his younger sister, Lucina Thomas-Viduari.
A private celebration of his life will be held by his family and friends at a later date at Martin’s Beach in California.
