Marjorie Smith

Marjorie E. Smith (Miss Margie), longtime resident of Franklin, TN, passed away peacefully and on her own terms Wednesday, December 23rd at Williamson Medical Center, comforted by those who loved and cared for her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Smith and Bessie T. Smith. Margie lived in an apartment at Craig Court in downtown Franklin for over twenty years, which is where most of her friends came to know and love her. Margie was inspiring to everyone who came in contact with her. If she was ever unhappy, she surely would never let anyone know! From the moment you saw her broad smile, you knew you had found an instant friend. Margie always welcomed visitors to her place, who found her to be a patient listener as well as a great story-teller. She would share fond memories about traveling to New York and Washington with her parents, and about the fun “gals” she carpooled with on her way to work in downtown Nashville. There are so many folks who came to love this beautiful soul and become her forever friend. Please share your remembrances and wish goodbye to the one – the only – Miss Margie.A celebration of the life of Margie Smith is being planned to take place in late January, around the time of what would be her 90th birthday.
