Mary Montgomery

October 31, 1948 — October 19, 2017

Mary Jane Montgomery, 68, passed away on October 19, 2017, with her family (son: Joshua, daughter-in-law: Karah, and sisters: Martha and Judy) by her side in Nashville, Tennessee. Mary Jane was born October 31, 1948, in Marceline, Missouri to Leon and Louise Montgomery. Her father was a farmer and chef, and her mother was a nurse. When Mary Jane was five years old her parents moved to California where she lived until she was 17. Mary Jane moved in 1966 to Tennessee, where she spent the rest of her life. A southern "belle" and dedicated nurse, Mary Jane was passionate about her work and her friends. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1972 with her Associate Degree in Nursing and from Cumberland University in 1995 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked in various capacities in that field; one of her favorites being the Emergency Room. An extrovert with a sharp wit and beautiful smile, many stories could be shared about the lives she touched. Her interests included crocheting, antiquing, gardening, her cat "Titan", along (of course) with the football team the Titans. Mary Jane was a beautiful sister and when Martha, Mary, and Judy were at Newbury Park Academy together, Mary would get tired of talking to all the guys who liked to call and chat with her on the phone. Since "we three Montgomery sisters" all sounded alike on the phone, Martha and Judy would talk to her boyfriends and they never knew it wasn't Mary! Martha and Judy could pour on the sweet talk and charm just like Mary! Mary Jane is survived by her son, Joshua Lewis and his spouse Karah. Along with 5 siblings and their spouses: David Montgomery (Bonnie), Ruth Heminger (Jerry), Daniel Montgomery (Nanci), Martha Fasola (Ken), and Judy Jarnes (Rolf). She also left behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 from 5:30-8:00pm at the Community Church of Hendersonville to celebrate and remember the life of "Mary Jane Montgomery." In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Leukemia-Lymphoma society in her name is appreciated. Mary Jane will be buried in Goldsberry, Missouri in the spring or early summer of 2018 and there will be another memorial service at that time with family, friends, and cousins. www.CallNFC.com
