Mary Virginia “Ginny” Powers age 90, passed away on June 21, 2018 at Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville. She was born in Chicago on March 25, 1928, of the late Raymond O. Siebert and Mabel G. Siebert.Ginny is survived by the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Harry Kenneth “Ken” Powers, along with their son Raymond Powers (wife Janet), daughter Judy Johnson (husband Greg), grandchildren Ashley Huna (husband Jonathan), and Ryan Johnson.Through her life Ginny enjoyed square dancing (where she met Ken), was an avid reader, loved jigsaw puzzles, crochet, and needlepoint. She also loved to travel and camp. They visited all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. Ginny served in various leadership positions in several camping clubs, and was a member of Good Sam’s.She lived in Wheaton, IL for 30 years, where she and Ken raised their two children. Ginny faithful served in the Methodist Church in almost every position within the senior group, ushered, and volunteered in “Lick and Stick” at Wesley United Methodist Church in Springfield, MO where she and her husband spent most of their retirement.Two years ago they moved to Smyrna, TN and joined a church there prior to moving to Mary Queen of Angels in Nashville in April.Ginny loved animals, especially dogs, the most precious of which was “Peppy” a shih tzu. He was without a doubt, an important part of the family.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Smyrna First United Methodist Church. (301 Sam Davis Rd. Smyrna, TN 37167)A Celebration of Life will take place at Smyrna First United Methodist Church at 11:00 am on Friday, June 29th.
