Michael Sean Thomas, beloved father and friend to so many, passed away on January 21, 2017. He was born on September 14, 1965 , in Los Angeles (Sherman Oaks) California. He spent some of his time living in Colorado Springs, CO. Most of his life, and his last days were spent living in Nashville, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pamela Wittenmier, Charlie Wittenmier (step-father) and John Thomas.
Mike made long lasting friendships in the places he worked and scuba dived. But he was mostly known in the Nashville local music scene. His latest band , Bridges to Burn, The Beast, and Artisan were a few bands he sang with. Mike had a lot of nick names …. Mikey, MICHAEL, Mike, Long Hair, “asshole” (in a funny way), Pookie, Brother, Friend, Buddy, Superman, Rockstar, “meow” and Daddy. One person described him best , thank you Dawn Bowen for sharing ….
– ” Mike was very private and kept to himself, but I had the pleasure and honor of getting to know the real him. As much as most of you have known Mike Thomas “the singer” for several years, I got to know Mike the Dallas Cowboys fan, the avid scuba diver, the history buff, the quick witted smart ass, the movie collector, the amazing song writer, best story teller and the funniest off-color joke teller I’ve ever known. But if you put all of these traits and talents together and include the years he spent singing for multiple class-act/ record
label signed bands at venues across the country…. none of it compares to Mike Thomas, the dad. He was first and foremost, 100% totally devoted and ridiculously proud of his #1 accomplishment and responsibility … being Jessica’s father. ”
Mike leaves behind his devoted daughter, Jessica Thomas and a list of friends to cherish his memory. And lets not forget his love of furry friends and all Gods creatures, Everyone has their own special story to tell of Mike. When you hear your favorite song, laugh at that corny joke, drink your favorite drink , remember how he made you smile and pass that smile along.
May the spirit of Mike, Music, and God be with you always.
Mike’s celebration of life service will be held Saturday February 4, 2017 from 5:45pm to 7:30pm at Faith Methodist Church, Banquet/Dining Room, 419 Ezell Pike Nashville, TN. 37217
