Mildred Reid

Mrs. Mildred Jenett Reid, age 88 of Antioch, passed away January 14, 2015 at Christian Care of Rutherford in Smyrna.Mrs. Reid was born August 8, 1926 in Flint, MI. She was the daughter of John and Dica Monroe Shocknessey, and was the last surviving of the 8 children.Some would describe Mildred as simply a “caregiver”, but her daughter recounts how she loved children and committed her life to raising them. She simply lived her life for the care and compassion of kids, similar to movie icon, Marie Von Trapp.Unfortunately Mildred faced many trials. Her husband of 45 years, William A. Reid, passed away in 2003, and a grandson: Lawton Longanecker passed suddenly eight years ago. Just a day before what would have been Lawton’s birthday, his grandmother, Mildred joined him in eternity. She was, however, blessed to have lived with Paul and her family for 17 years during the formative years of her grandchildrens’ lives.Leaving to cherish her memory are two daughter: Paula Reid of Antioch and Patricia Reid Look of Michigan; numerous grandchildren including: Landon (Samantha) Longanecker and Tyler Pohrte: and numerous great-grandchildren including her last born great-granddaughter: Autumn Skye.NASHVILLE FUNERAL AND CREMATION 615-256-1605
