Nancy Nichols

Nancy Virginia Stallings Nichols passed away in the hospital in Nashville, TN in the early morning on Sunday, March 8, 2015. She was born on February 6, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Ulysses Ezra Stallings and Gradye King Wooten Stallings.Nancy is survived by her four children: William King Nichols (Carla), Suzanne Nichols Morrison (Michael) of Thompson Station, TN, Sarah Nichols (Ivan Foster) of Nashville, TN, and Jesse Vaden Nichols III of Colorado Springs, CO; as well as a sister; Mary Alice Steward of Clarksville, TN; and sister-in-law Helen Steele of Tuscaloosa, AL. Nancy was also blessed with 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom knew her affectionately as “Nana”.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Jesse Vaden Nichols, Jr.; brother: James Henry Stallings; sisters: Elizabeth Baskette and Wynema Harris; and infant great-granddaughter: Maggie Mae Morrison.As a young girl, Nancy was an excellent student who enjoyed gardening and loved music and singing. She had a lovely alto voice and liked to harmonize and share a fond memory of singing on the radio. She also played the piano beautifully, and was a life-long bridge player. She cherished her family including nieces and nephews, always remembering their birthdays. Nancy also liked to read, watch old movies, keep up with the news, and watch Jeopardy, as well as work crossword and Sudoku puzzles. She was a loving, wonderful lady who will be deeply missed.Services will be held at noon on Friday, March 20th at The Chapel, 2415 Atrium Way, Nashville, TN 37214 with interment at 2 PM in the Nashville National Cemetery on Gallatin Pike in Madison, TN.NASHVILLE FUNERAL AND CREMATION 615-256-1605
