Nicholas "Nick" Edward Frank

Nicholas Edward Frank, known to his loved ones as Nick, passed away on September 10, 2023, at the age of 33 in Nashville, Tennessee. After a courageous 17-month battle with plasma cell leukemia, he "fought the good fight, finished the course, and kept the faith." Although cancer took his body, Nick is now free of all disease and suffering and is in the presence of Jesus.

Born on March 24, 1990, in Tacoma, Washington, Nick was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Nick made his home in Knoxville, Tennessee where he met his wife of 7 years, Michelle, and welcomed their 2-year-old daughter, Marigold. His loyal companion, a rescue dog named Coco, rounded out the crew.

With his hardworking nature and unmatched intelligence, Nick accomplished more in his 33 years than most could dream of doing in a lifetime. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in marketing and finance and furthered his passion for business by obtaining an MBA. He began his career at Radio Systems Corporation, eventually working his way up to Category Manager. He later landed his dream job at Bush Brother's Company, where he held the title of Customer and Shopper Insights Strategist. Nick's passion for marketing and management shone through in his work, and he left a lasting impact on his coworkers and on the industry as a whole.

Of all his accomplishments and titles, 'Dad' was the one of which he was most proud. Even as a young teenager, Nick consistently talked of his dream of becoming a dad. In July of 2021, his dream became a reality with the arrival of their daughter Marigold. His overwhelming love for her was immediately evident. Nick was a fiercely dedicated father and never missed an opportunity to put a smile on Marigold's face. While Nick's battle with cancer came with many challenges, it also came with the blessing of additional time at home with Marigold- something he always made the most of and cherished above all else.

Nick found joy in a wide range of hobbies and interests. He loved exploring new destinations through travel and adding to his impressive whiskey collection. He had a love for language, culture, and reading. Nick enjoyed video games and thrived on being the first to discover the best TV shows to share with others. He valued his time spent with friends, whom he considered family, and he never passed up an opportunity to gather them together for an adventure. He loved to go on cruises and became the life of the party the second he stepped onboard. He dubbed himself the "Captain," a well-earned nickname that paired perfectly with his Captain's hat and seemingly endless collection of Hawaiian shirts.

Nick was a true master of wit, always ready to slide in a clever joke or pun when you least expected it. His quick thinking and sense of humor made him the reigning champion of dad jokes well before he held that title. He was known for his even-keeled demeanor and selfless heart, always putting others before himself. A gracious host, he always made sure everyone felt welcomed and included. Nick had a discerning and caring nature, and he never complained even in the face of great adversity. He faced the challenges that cancer threw his way head-on with unwavering strength and tenacity, his Captain's hat in tow every step of the way. A man of strong faith, Nick's battle cry throughout this journey was "We've got this - God's got this."

Nick is survived by his wife, Michelle Frank, and their young daughter, Marigold "Goldie" Frank. He is also survived by his parents, Gregg and Lisa Frank, his brother, Gregory Frank (Molly), his father and mother-in-law, Dr. Lorin and Cindy Holst, his sister-in-law, Dr. Kristen Holst. Nick was preceded in death by grandmothers Nancy Ambrose and Gloria Richards.

Nick's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 1:00 PM EST at Fellowship Church (8000 Middlebrook Pike, Knoxville, TN 37909). To best honor Nick, Hawaiian shirts or nautical inspired attire is strongly encouraged. Instead of a receiving of friends, an open-house style gathering will follow later that same day at Addison's Books & Events (126 S Gay St, Knoxville, TN 37902) from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM EST. Everyone is welcome at Fellowship for the service and at Addison's for the gathering, including all ages.
