Nonine Cranston

July 31, 1929 — February 11, 2015

Mrs. Nonine Elene Borgman Cranston, age 85, passed away February 11, 2015 at her Heritage Way residence in Brentwood.A native of St. Louis, MO, Nonine was the daughter of Gilbert Richard Borgman and Mae Margaret Schmidt Borgman, and was a lifelong active member of the Presbyterian Church.Nonine will best be remembered for her remarkable faith. She dedicated her life to serving others. After receiving her Master's Degree in Christian Education from New York Theological Seminary, she journeyed to the Sudan with a mission team. It was there that her life truly changed.Travelling with another mission team was a young minister, James Cranston. Three months after they met, she received a wedding dress in the mail from her mother, and they began their lives together. Rev. James Cranston and his wife, Nonine, would share the next 50 years together raising their three children, ministering to the faithful, loving their grandchildren and being strong Christian examples to all they met.Beyond her faith, Nonine had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to tease and joke with others because she loved and appreciated them. She was kind hearted and made a point to know those around her. In her final years she made a point to know, and be known, by all of her neighbors.Shortly after their 50 th wedding anniversary in 2011, her loving husband and companion passed away. She remained as active as her health would allow and still shared her example of dedication and faith with those around her.She is survived by her three children: Deborah (David) Pilgrim of Franklin, Ruth Cranston of Boston, MA and William Cranston of Mountain View, CA; a sister: Donna (Carl) Lillmars of FL; and 6 grandchildren: James Pilgrim, Amanda Pilgrim, Josh Pilgrim, Jared Pilgrim, Joe Pilgrim and David C. Pilgrim. Her family will gather for memorial services at a later date.NASHVILLE FUNERAL AND CREMATION 615-256-1605
