Philip Bassett DavenportMr. Philip Bassett Davenport, son of Ann Litton Hendren, was born February 8th, 1970 in Post, Texas. He was a graduate of Kingman High School, Kingman, Arizona in 1988. He was a member of the High School Band.Mr. Davenport moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1988. Philip was an active member of the Belmont Church for most of his life in Nashville. As a result of his interest in spiritual matters he was a devout Bible student with a generous spirit and accepting attitude, and he was loved by many. He quietly departed this life Saturday July 15th, 2017 while hiking on Mt. LeConte in the Great Smokey Mountains in the company of a group of men from the Belmont Church. He was preceded in death by his much-loved Grandfather, Bascum M. Litton, who influenced Philip to have a deep faith in God, and the caring nurture of his Grandmother Verna Cooper Litton.He was a skilled carpenter and cabinet-maker. Philip possessed an extraordinary aptitude for mathematics, virtually at a genius level. His Supervisor remarked that Philip was a very intelligent man. He was also an amateur physicist who not only designed a brilliant computer program illustrating the movement of sub-atomic particles, but also was an excellent astronomer, who also designed and built his own telescope.His creative and imaginative life will forever be cherished by his survivors: His mother; Ann, and his sister Patricia Davenport Diel of Battlefield, MO; brother Stephen Davenport of Nixa, MO. Also, very close to Philip were Murray and Debbie Fuqua, members of his larger family and fellow members of the Belmont Church. He is also survived by a host of friends.Philip's Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM, Sunday, July 23, 2017 in the Chapel of the Belmont Church.
