Robert Kenneth Gring passed away May 7, 2021 at home in Nashville, TN surrounded by family, following a battle with Metastatic Melanoma.
Robert was born September 10, 1964 in Columbus, MS to Roy Gordon Gring and Lois Ann Carnegie Gring. He was the grandson of Roy Park Gring, Ethel Smith Gring and Alice Stpehens Gring, and William Ray Carnegie and Harriet Haarz Carnegie.
Robert spent the majority of his life in Manassas, VA, where he graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1982. Growing up, his favorite TV show was “Emergency,” which inspired him to become a paramedic. He became a Junior Member of he Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad (GMVRS) at the age of 16, a nationally registered Cardiac Tech Emergency Medical Technician/Firefighter, and lifetime member of the GMVRS. He was also a volunteer for the Magnolia Springs Fire Department in Magnolia Springs, AL. He dedicated his life to the service of others.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother-in-law: John Wesley Moody, III.
He is survived by his sisters: Mary Gring Moody and Harriet Gring Fowler of Nashville, and Alice Gring (Rick) Martin of Somerset, KY; nephews: Ben Moody of Nashville, Richard Martin of Manassas, VA, Michael (Kristina) Martin of Linden, VA, James Martin and Will Martin of Somerset, KY; and niece: Ashley Martin of Somerset, KY.
A memorial service will be held at the Reformed Presbyterian Church, 9400 Fairview Ave, Manassas, VA on June 12, 2021 at 1:00 PM. Pastor Allen Church will officiate. Following the service a reception will be hosted by the Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad Ladies’ Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 123, Manassas, VA 20108.
