Robert Matthew Hartman, Sr. passed away February 4, 2015 at the Alive Hospice Residence, in Nashville, surrounded by his family.Robert was born January 31, 1933 in Atlanta, GA and was the son of William Anthony Hartman, Sr. and Clara Walker Hartman.He graduated with a business degree from Georgia State University, received an MBA from Louisiana State University, and did additional post-graduate study at Northwestern University.He started his career in Atlanta, GA in mortgage banking. From there he went to work for US Small Business Administration in Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, and Nashville, TN where he retired as the District Director.Robert was an avid reader and became an accomplished watercolor painter after retiring. He relished discussing politics with any who would listen.He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Barbara Carreker Hartman of Franklin; two children: Robert “Matt” (Carol) Hartman, Jr of Nashville and Lynda Hartman (Bill) O’Donnell of Brentwood; his two grandchildren: Sara Louise Hartman and Ben O’Donnell; and sibling: Richard Paul Hartman of Atlanta, GA.
