Rudie Smith

February 22, 1937 — April 7, 2020

Rudie Wallace Smith was born Feb. 22, 1937 in Gadsden, AL and passed away April 7, 2020 in Franklin, TN. Rudie was a longtime member of West End Church of Christ and most recently a devoted member of 4 ^th Avenue Church of Christ in Franklin. She was extremely dedicated to, and proud of, her work at Madison Church of Christ Domestic Violence Shelter. She was a founding member and director of this establishment that provided safety and hope for countless women and children. Her tireless efforts and compassion blessed so many lives. In later years, she worked at Agape Nashville, once again serving so many with her Christ-like spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents: Claude and Louise Kilpatrick Wallace; brother: John Wallace; and sister: Anne Moore. She is survived by her sister: Frank Batson; children: Patrick Smith (Melanie) and Russie Carter (Jamie); and grandchildren: Corianne Gatti (Pablo), Lincoln Carter, Landon Carter, Sloan Smith and Sutton Smith. A Celebration of Life will be held when restrictions are lifted and it is safe to gather again. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rudie's honor to 4 ^th Ave Church of Christ Scholarship Fund (earmark "Teens") or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
