Sharon Cecilia (Rhoades) Mead Foster, born April 1 st , 1944, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away at her home in Hendersonville, Tennessee on Thursday, June 29 th , 2017. Sharon grew up in Broken Arrow, OK. Her parents, Hazel Whitely Rhoades and Henry Cecil Rhoades were well known educators in the Broken Arrow school system and Rhoades Elementary in Broken Arrow was named in honor of her father. Sharon graduated Broken Arrow High School with the class of 1962 and attended Oklahoma State University where she met her husband Terry McAlister Mead, a musician. They lived in Broken Arrow for a while where Terry was a band director with the Broken Arrow School System. Terry was part of a musical group that went on to travel with entertainer and singer Brenda Lee. Sharon was hired as Brenda’s Personnel Assistant and traveled with her all over the world. Sharon later received her degree from Belmont University in Nashville, TN and went to work for the state of Tennessee as Chief Securities Investigator, retiring from that job in 2003. Sharon was a good Christian and ardently studied her Bible. She was a strong woman who enjoyed researching genealogy, being a wife, mom, and mama, who cherished spending time with her family and friends. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; Henry Cecil Rhoades and Hazel Whitely Rhoades. Sharon is survived by her loving husband Charles Foster, her beloved son, Corey Stanton Mead, daughter-in-law, Joanne Mead, brother, Jerry Lynn Rhoades, sister, Janelle Rhoades Robison, nephews; Brad Diggs (Renee), Bobby Rhoades, niece, Rachel Rhoades Mallory (Patrick), grandchildren; William Rhoades McAlister Mead, Madelyn Robertson, Carter Robertson, Savannah Robertson, Raven Richardson, dogs Zack and Gracie, as well as numerous friends and extended family in the Tulsa, Nashville, and San Bernardino areas.A celebration of life service for Sharon will be held at the Mead residence in Greenbrier, TN. The visitation will be held Sunday July 9, 2017 from 12:00 pm to 3:00pm. Service to follow at 3 pm officiated by longtime friend, Rev. Cora Alston. Sharon will be laid to rest in Broken Arrow, OK.
