Steven Leo Mazanec, 66, died October 12, 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee where he and his wife have lived the past two years. Steve was born January 26, 1952 in Lexington, Nebraska. He graduated from Overton High School (Nebraska) in 1970 and from the University of Nebraska in 1974 with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. Steve worked 10 years as a partner at System Building Inc. with his brother, Ron. In 1985, he began his career with Butler Manufacturing as an Area Manager, which was his focus until 1995 when he became a Sales Manager for International Accounts. From 1999 until the time of his retirement in December 2016, Steve was a Senior Global Corporate Accounts Manager. Steve enjoyed spending time with family, golfing, gardening, following his sports teams, and believe it or not, working on home improvement projects. Steve was preceded in death by brother, Ron Mazanec and sister, Carolyn Monnington. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Lori and dog, Abby, parents, Leo and Bernece Mazanec, sister, Cheryl (Alan) Wolfe, sister-in-law, Lea Mazanec, brother-in-law, Pete Monnington, son, Seth (Jeff Barnard), son, Aaron (Angela), step children, Krista (Eric) Krauss, Lyndsay (Eric) Churches, Ryan Jones, 5 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The celebration of Steve’s life will be held at the Bredin-Lee Gallery, 1729 McGee Street, Kansas City, MO 64108 on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 4:00pm.
