Susan Laux

Susan Laux, 68 of Greeneville transitioned to heaven on October 1, 2017. She was born May 12, 1949 in Hancock, Michigan the daughter of Irma (Laitinen) and Oliver Aho of Ripley, Michigan. She graduated from Hancock High School in 1967.She married Philip Laux in September 1969. Sue was a quick-witted, strong and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Because of work, she and Phil lived in many locations during their marriage, and she quickly made friends wherever she went and especially enjoyed playing cards and games with them. She had worked as a secretary. She was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's Disease and took on her disease as the true fighter she was. She dedicated herself to helping to understand the cause and finding a cure for Parkinson's. She was involved with the Chicago Chapter of the American Parkinson's Disease Association (APDA) and the Parkinson's Action Network (PAN) as well as volunteered in many support groups. She participated in multiple research studies at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) allowing her body to be observed and leveraged in this cause. She was an inspiration to all and great support for her "Parkie Friends." She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband's parents, Dr. Philip and Rita Laux, and her brother-in-law Robert Brunet. She is survived by her husband Philip, two children Melissa Spies of Marietta GA, and Kevin Laux of Austin TX; two sisters, Mary Brunet of Ripley MI and Ruth Wernert of Plainfield IL; her brother Paul Aho of L'anse MI. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Lillian Turns, Nathan and Cameron Spies, Ani and Clara Laux; her son-in-law Russell Spies; soon to be daughter-in-law Natalie Richardson; brother-in-law Greg Wernert and sisters-in - law Joy Tobin and Sally Loup of Traverse City MI, Nancy Butler of Crystal Lake IL; brother-in-law John Tobin; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to her favorite doctor, Dr. Michael Rezak for his years of dedicated care and friendship. She will always be remembered for her can-do spirit and deep love of family and friends. We will have three Celebrations of Life to cover the three main geographical areas where she spent her life with her family and friends.
