Susanne Hill

July 18, 1932 — June 16, 2018

Susanne Sweeney Hill, 85, died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Alive Hospice in Nashville. A native of New York City, she was a longtime resident of Athens and Largo, Fla. She was a volunteer and founding member of the McMinn Regional Humane Society and was a volunteer with Coordinated Charities before moving to Florida. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Barbara Sweeney; her husband, James H. Hill, Sr.; a grandson, James H. Hill, III; and sister, Barbara Ballew. She is survived by her sons, Phillip Hill of Nashville; James H. Hill, Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; and David Hill of Chicago; granddaughter, Betsy Clarke of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and great grandchildren, Caroline and Will Clarke; nieces Jan Jenkins of Crystal Beach, Fla. and Suzie Topping of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and nephew Steve Ballew of Largo, Fla. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Athens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be sent to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, Tenn., 37203.
