Walter "Mickey" Werth
Mickey died at Southern Hills Hospital on February 1, 2014 due to complications from diabetes. Mickey was born in Kingsport Tennessee in 1949. He arrived in Nashville to play football at Vanderbilt and lived here until his death. He was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and The Nashville School of Law. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Francis Werth, as well as his oldest brother, John.
He is survived by his very devoted wife of 41 years, Sandy and their loving son Tom, both of Nashville. He also is survived by three sisters; Lucy Newsom of New Mexico, Lynn Montgomery of North Carolina and Margaret Werth of Philadelphia along with a brother Ken Werth of Florida.
Mickey could find humor in most any situation and was always available to deliver a good joke. He loved to cook and laugh and was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed a good game of golf with his buddies. He was politically active and very supportive of most any "liberal" cause. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the CCU nurses at Southern Hills for their help and kindness. There will be a private celebration of Mickey's life at a later date. The family requests that donations in memory of Mickey be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital at www.StJude.org, or the charity of your choice.
