William Baker

William "Bill" Hayes Baker - Age 78 of Hendersonville, passed away on April 12, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Edna Baker. He is survived by his wife, Monique Dennis Baker; children, Vicki Thomas (Tony) of Elizabethtown, KY and Rick Baker of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Amy Manns, Anna Baker, Hayes Thomas (Brittney), Taylor Thomas, Austin Baker and Kathryn Thomas; great-grandson, Jayden Grugen; brothers, Eddie Baker (Doris) of Columbia, TN and Graham Baker (Katie) of Nashville, TN; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and his loving dog who was with him until the end, "Wilson".Bill attended Hohenwald High School and Isaac Litton High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and he retired from L & N Railroad. After retirement, he worked at Hermitage Golf Course and Country Hills Golf Course. He was also a coordinator for the Sara Lee Golf Tournament.Bill always had a sense of humor, and never met a stranger. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, and he loved his family.A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Hermitage Golf Course from 4-7 p.m. A military graveside service will be held at a later date at Nashville National Cemetery in Madison, TN.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill's honor to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St. Nashville, TN 37203 (615) 327-1085, or to the PGA Junior Golf League- Hermitage Golf Course 3939 Old Hickory Blvd. Old Hickory, TN 37138 (615) 847-4001.
